Denise was born on March 3, 1956 to Linda and Joseph Heath. She grew up with the best big brother in the world, Joe Heath, as well as some niehgborhood big brothers. Growing up in a musical family, Denise developed a love for music and singing. Anyone who knew Denise or knew of her knew how talented she was. She went on to sing in her school choir and jazz band. Her voice made memories for the Kenwood class of 1974. She auditioned for a local band, Collage, and her life was forever changed. She met the love of her life, Vern Winter, the guitar player for Collage. They made beautiful music togther for a few years and then later got married. They brought into this world three loving daughters, Wendi, Lindsay and Emily. Denise was a loving wife and mother and supported her kids in all they did. From dance classes, to cheerleading competitions to musical rehearsals she did it all to support her kids. She didn't just drive her girls to these things she made herself involved in them as well. Wherever her girls were, Denise was somewhere in the background making costumes, serving food, or running the whole gosh darn thing. She did all of this while still having time to be in her awesome band, Collage, and work for Baltimore County Public Schools. Any child that knew her loved her. She was a woman devoted to making others happy. In 2009, she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had already metastisized to her liver. Devastated but determined to not let it slow her down she had surgery to remove the original tumor and began chemo. She still found time to support her daughters in everything they did, work full time for Baltimore County Public Schools, and perform with Collage. She inspired everyone she met with her bravery and strength. She fought a hard battle but no one would have ever known. She handled her chemo struggles and cancer with grace and courage. She put a smile on her face and was still spreading light to all around her with her voice and loving personality. She sadly lost her battle on November 18, 2013. Her love and presence is missed everyday but her memory lives on.
